DEPARTMENT OF CHILDREN & FAMILY SERVICES
The Dept of Children & Family Services requires a fingerprint-based background check for prospective foster and adoptive parents for approval before the placment of a child.
The Adam Walsh Act provides access to a fingerprint-based background check to private agencies that will hire those that will be working with vulnerable populations including children. Results of the background check are returned to the requesting agency by the Illinois State Police.
Any agency or organization that needs this services will need to contact the Illinois State Police to request an Originating Requester Identification (ORI) number. Once the account is created with the ISP, Intelligents ETV would then work with you directly collecting and submitting your candidates fingerprints to the Illinois State Police. All results will be forwarded to you, the requesting agency.
What Should My Candidate Bring to Their Appointment?
Please have your candidate bring their Drivers License or State ID confirming their current address.
Your candidate’s fingerprint will then be submitted to the Illinois State Police the same day.
