FUN FACT

It may come as a surprise to many, but in one particular state it is not law, as of yet to have an employee working in a daycare center that does not have direct contact with children to have a background check performed.

That state happens to be Indiana, currently the Indiana law only mandates that employees working in direct contact with children should have a background check performed.

This may be changing soon as one Indiana lawmaker is seeking to close the loophole. Indiana House Bill 1264 would change that and require all individuals working in a licensed daycare center to have a background screening performed. The bill has already passed in the house and had its first reading in the Indiana Senate on 02/27/20. If passed, the bill will be effective July 1, 2020. Stay tuned.
